Email in the hazy past

Reading a book on functional programming from 1987, I was surprised by the author’s contact details:

I couldn’t figure it out at first – what country code is ‘.cs’? – but then I realised it’s expressed backwards, like an IP address. I wonder if this is the way that all domain names were expressed back then? I’ve never seen this before, so I thought I’d share it.

Today’s BoingBoing showed a set of photos from Clayton James Cubitt which are quite beautiful. Most of them remind me very strongly of the artwork and fashion surrounding Björk‘s album Vespertine – all crazy smoke-trails and old-lace.
